BHS® offers a Lease-to-Buy Solutions® (LTB®) Homeownership Opportunities
for low-to-moderate income individuals with mental illness and other disabling conditions. The Lease-to-Buy Program provides the opportunity to transition from an affordable rental housing program approved renter to an independent and self-sufficient, first-time homeowner. This homeownership solution enables individuals to lease a single-family home for up to two years, demonstrating financial stability and then obtain a mortgage and become a homeowner. To date, thirty-four (34) individuals and their families with mental illness have become homeowners in the BHS®’ Lease-to-Buy housing program.
The mission of Broward Housing Solutions®, founded as a 501(c)(3) in 1993, is to provide quality, permanent and affordable housing opportunities to meet the needs of lower income or homeless
persons with disabilities who also have a mental illness.
