Youth mental health is worsening.

Rates of youth with severe depression increased from 5.9% in 2012 to 8.2% in 2015. Even with severe depression, 76% of youth are left with no or insufficient treatment.*

Approximately 1.6 million children will experience homelessness over the course of a year. In any given day, researchers estimate that more than 200,000 children have no place to live.*

“Youth Solutions®” provides affordable and permanent housing for young adults,

adults, ages 18-23, who have aged out of the foster care system and struggle with emotional disturbances which later manifests into mental illness. In partnership with SOS Children’s Village and Henderson Behavioral Health, this is the next step in a continuum of care (COC) for these young adults who have faced challenging childhoods with limited education, life skills and overall options. This innovative program is one example of how Broward Housing Solutions® identifies a need in the mental health community and works to find a solution. Our goal here is to arm the young adult(s) with all the tools needed to live independently so that they won’t end up on our waiting list later in their adult lives.

Woodside Gardens in Coral Springs and Wilson Gardens in Hollywood, are two Broward Housing   Solutions’® apartment developments specifically designated for this very fragile population. Broward Housing Solutions®’ goal here is to make a difference . . . one young adult at a time.
