Broward Housing Solutions® (BHS®) Samaritan Housing Program offers permanent, independent, and affordable housing across any of the 24 properties owned and operated by BHS®. This program serves individuals who are chronically homeless and diagnosed with a Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI). Residents are referred to the program through Broward County’s HMIS/ServicePoint system. Once enrolled, residents are placed in one of BHS® one, two, or three-bedroom apartment units located throughout various cities in Broward County. All units are strategically situated near public transportation, employment and educational opportunities, healthcare services, and shopping centers—ensuring accessibility to essential resources.
Additionally, residents are provided with wrap-a-round case management support from community mental health partner agencies. By using a comprehensive, resident-centered approach, BHS® collaborates with community partners to integrate and coordinate a wide range of services tailored to meet the unique and complex needs of each resident.

Most importantly, through funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and oversight by Broward County’s Continuum of Care (CoC), participants—including their families, when applicable—are able to live
independently while contributing only 30% of their gross monthly income toward rent, making it an affordable and sustainable option for individuals and families in need.
