Waiting List Application

BROWARD HOUSING SOLUTIONS®

Waiting List Application

Please note that placement on the waitlist does not guarantee eligibility or admission into a Broward Housing Solutions® (BHS®) housing program. Final eligibility will be determined based on the requirements of the specific housing program and applicable funding source.

To be considered for a BHS® housing program, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the applicable program and funding source, which may include the following:

  • Be experiencing homelessness or housing instability
  • Be low income and meet applicable income limits
  • Be actively connected to mental health case management services through an approved community provider
  • Have a diagnosis of a severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI)
  • Be able to meet the essential obligations of tenancy, with or without reasonable accommodations and supportive services, including paying their required portion of rent, maintaining the unit in a safe and sanitary condition, complying with the lease and property rules, and avoiding conduct that threatens the health, safety, or peaceful enjoyment of other residents.

Criminal history may be reviewed as part of the eligibility process in accordance with applicable program requirements and federal, state, and local fair housing laws. Certain criminal history, including convictions involving violent criminal activity, fraud, drug trafficking, or applicable sex offender registration requirements, may affect eligibility. Each application will be reviewed in accordance with applicable program requirements and BHS® policies.

Household Size and Unit Availability

Please Note: BHS® units have a maximum of three (3) bedrooms and can accommodate up to six (6) household members. Bedroom eligibility is determined based on household size and composition, including the ages and sex of household members, applicable occupancy standards, and reasonable accommodation needs.

Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity

Broward Housing Solutions® is committed to providing equal housing opportunities and does not discriminate against applicants or residents on the basis of any characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.

The Fair Housing Act prohibits housing discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability. Additional protections may apply under Florida law and Broward County ordinances, including protections related to sexual orientation, age, marital status, and other protected classifications.

Applicants with disabilities may request a reasonable accommodation or reasonable modification when necessary to have an equal opportunity to apply for, qualify for, use, and enjoy BHS® housing and related services.
